I called Aaron, and he said not to worry and he would check it out when he came home. Well, about 20 minutes later the water sound was still going strong and there were now 4 streaks on the wall. I called Aaron again and he said he would check it out but he was going to stay for another drink. So I figured if he wasn't worried, then I wasn't worried. I hung out for a little longer and then I actually heard water hitting our floor. When I looked at the ceiling again there were about 20 streaks and it actually seemed like it was raining in our apartment!
I started moving everything away from the windows and wall area and I called Aaron and told him he needed to get his you know what back here asap! Luckily Aaron was just leaving. When he came back into our apartment, he said "Oh (bad word)", got a bloody nose, and almost slipped on the water, and touched one of our shades which immediately fell off the wall in about the course of a minute. It was really bad! We had maintenance come up and they started taking pictures with a digital camera and they told us they would be back soon.
They came back about 20 minutes later, explained to us what happened, and told us they had fixed the problem upstairs. Well, what happened was that the unit 2 floors above us had a broken bathroom sprayer (it's like a foreign thing- bidet related) that had been leaking for hours. Apparently when the people who live in that unit came home, they opened their front door and water spilled out into the hallway. What a mess! Luckily it was clean water but I was and am still skeeved out!
We ended up staying up until 3:30am. Aaron did the cleaning up (I was afraid of slipping after I saw him do the most dramatic almost-fall) and trying to minimize the damage. I took pictures for the blog- haha and called my mom! Finally we went to bed (I made Aaron shower before he even thought about getting into our bed) and at 6:00am our doorbell rang and it was maintenance again and they wanted to see the damage. Aaron yelled at the guy because he was ringing our bell so early and the guy told Aaron that no other units were answering. Um, ok?! It turned out that all the "05" units from the 17th (where the leak was) all the way to the 14th floor were damaged.
We ended up losing our blinds so now we have to deal with the nasty glare again! Hopefully we will be able to replace them soon (and I do not want us to be the ones paying for it!).

OMG that's so awful. You're so lucky the water didn't get all over your TV and electronics. I think the landlord should totally pay for new blinds. That's only fair.
